Coherent Wave Control in Complex Media with Arbitrary Wavefronts

Wavefront shaping (WFS) has emerged as powerful tool to control the propagation of diverse wave phenomena (light, sound, microwaves, ...) in disordered matter for applications including imaging, communication, energy transfer, micromanipulation, and scattering anomalies. Nonetheless, practice necessary coherent multiple input channels remains a vexing problem. Here, we overcome this difficulty by doping medium with programmable meta-atoms order adapt it an imposed arbitrary incoming wavefront. Besides lifting need carefully shaped incident wavefronts, our approach also unlocks new opportunities such sequentially achieving different functionalities same We demonstrate concept experimentally electromagnetic waves using metasurfaces chaotic cavity, focusing generalized Wigner-Smith operator well perfect absorption. expect fundamentally perspective on facilitate transition intricate WFS protocols into real various phenomena.
